Maybe you all remember the photographs made by Myrmecos from Pseudacteon flies attacking Solenopsis and Linepithema workers and the ones from Elasmosoma wasps flying around. But this week, ZooKeys published an article with unbelievable supplementary movies and great photographs (but Myrmecos's photographs were much, much better!). It is about the oviposition behaviour of three Braconid species (from the genera Elasmosoma, Kollasmosoma and Neoneurus.) on workers from two Formica and one Cataglyphis species and from one Ichneumonid wasp (from the genus Hybrizon.) on Lasius workers. In the article are also revisionary notes and descriptions of new species.

Merkur, the YouTube-movie you mention (and to which you give the link.) is the same movie as the one in appendix 1 with the online text-version. I notice already on a few sites that people find YouTube movies as "new" but the authors give the movies in the appendixes and mention themselves that they also put them online on YouTube because they are unique first time observations!

Und das, finde ich, ist ungeachtet wie man zu Googles Videomaschinerie steht, eine großartige Maßnahme, denn es macht diese Miniwelt erst für eine breitere Öffentlichkeit sicht- und (be)greifbar. Ich würde mich freuen wenn mehr Forscher diesen Weg gehen würden und ihr Audio-/Video-/Bildmaterial auf derart gut besuchten Plattformen zur Verfügung stellen und so Menschen auf ihre Arbeit aufmerksam werden können.
